DESCRIPTION:Rootead Summer Camp is for youth ages 5 – 12. Youth will learn the fundamentals of West African Drum & Dance\, make African-inspired crafts\, learn Mancala – the oldest game in the world! Each summer camp Friday\, the youth will share what they’ve learned with their families at showcase/celebration! \nThere will be two sessions this year\, and the dates are:\nMonday\, July 10 – Friday\, July 14\, 9:00am – 4:00pm\nMonday\, July 17 – Friday\, July 21\, 9:00am – 4:00pm \nSnacks are provided\, but youth will need to bring a cold\, packed lunch. \nThe cost of the summer camp is $200/week.  Scholarships are available.  Payments can be made during registration\, made via CashApp\, PayPal\, or Venmo\, or paid in person at the first session. \nRegister for Session 2\nRegister for Session 1

SUMMARY:Juneteenth Celebration @ Bronson Park
DESCRIPTION:Our Juneteenth celebration is going to be one to remember. \nThe theme we chose this year is Family Reunion.\nFamily reunions are special for Black and brown families for a couple of reasons we want to bring to our celebration: \n Uniting generations. Historically\, Black and brown family members were separated from one another. With no records kept on their family history\, it was difficult to reunite. Today\, it’s meaningful to be able to unify people across generations and across the diaspora. We’re all brothers and sisters\, aunties and cousins\, mothers and sons . \n Preserving cultural traditions. Part of Rootead’s mission is to bring African traditions to the Black community so that they can connect to their roots. Our ancestors had valuable wisdom that we can so greatly benefit from today. \n Sharing history. Not only are we able to make memories by getting together as a community but we’re able to recount stories and keep our ancestors’ stories and memories alive. \nWe will have live music\, a performance by RYDDE\, food trucks\, vendors\, and more. There will also be free food!\n  \n\n\n\nSIGN UP TO BE A VOLUNTEER HERE
